Matthew Spiegel – Criminal Defense Attorney
If you have been charged with or are under investigation for the commission of any crime, call 213-236-3660 today to schedule a free consultation with Matthew Spiegel. He will listen to you, suggest a strategy for your defense in a language you can understand, and provide the comfort you need during this difficult time.
SLG Criminal Law Group was founded by Mr. Spiegel, who has devoted his energies to criminal defense work since he began practicing law. Matthew started the firm after working for years with the largest criminal defense law firm in San Diego. Combining the skills and experience he gained, first as an associate with an established firm, and then striking out on his own, he has become renowned in southern California as an aggressive, successful lawyer who fights for the rights of his clients.
Mr. Spiegel’s experience extends to a wide range of criminal cases, both felonies and misdemeanors. Among them are DUI (drunk driving), murder, drug crimes (including possession of illegal drugs), sex crimes, child abuse, theft crimes (including burglary and robbery), assault, and others. Matthew’s experience with the defense of DUI charges is particularly impressive, having defended over 400 clients charged with driving under the influence. He is not afraid to go to trial when it serves his client’s interests to do so, and he has tried many cases before a jury, obtaining numerous verdicts of not guilty.
In the process of developing and expanding his criminal law practice, Mr. Spiegel has received substantial media attention, including being featured on television news broadcasts, and speaking on local radio stations. His handling of high profile cases has also generated much public interest. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego, Matthew attended law school on a scholarship, and was drawn immediately to criminal law, an area in which he excelled. During the early years of his practice, he was honored by The Daily Transcript with its “Young Attorneys” award, which recognizes “some of the brightest up-and-coming” attorneys in the legal community.
In addition to his significant experience, success and expertise representing clients charged with a variety of criminal charges, Mr. Spiegel is committed to placing his clients’ interests first. That means
- he is aggressive within the bounds of his ethical responsibilities;
- he treats his clients with the dignity and respect they deserve, no matter what the charges against him;
- he fights for the rights of his clients, raising any and all defenses available to the particular charge involved; and
- he keeps his clients informed during every step of the proceeding, and explains the charges and strategy in language his clients can understand.
